EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and reprocessing. 

EMDR is a simple technique of eye movement or tapping that simulates REM sleep. While the client focuses on a thought along with felt sensation in the body, the eye movement or tapping stimulates the two sides of the brain and thus accelerates natural problem solving functions of the brain.   I have found it useful for obsessive thoughts and to calm the nervous system when very anxious.
